Joachim Schirrmacher lives and works as Creative Consultant in Berlin. He studied Designmanagement, -theorie and -research at  Köln International School of Design. He works for companies and institutions like Alliance German Designers, Carroux Cafe, Design Zentrum Bremen, Federal Foreign Office, Messe München or for Law firms and Consultants. On the gateway among universities and companies, he is responsible for the Stiftung der Deutschen Bekleidungsindustrie SDBI (German Fashion Industry Foundation) with their worldwide Fashion Award FASH or was Head of Design Management of the research project Design Reaktor Berlin of Universität der Künste Berlin (Berlin University of the Arts).
Joachim Schirrmacher was member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Designtheorie und -forschung (German Society for Design Theorie and Research) and expert of the Initiative Kultur- & Kreativwirtschaft der Bundesregierung (initiative for culture and creative industries of the federal goverment).
